Stopover in Valetta, Malta August 29-30

From August 28 to 30

Five years after her first visit during the Tara Oceans expedition, the schooner Tara returns to Malta as part of the Tara Mediterranean expedition.

Docked at the Pinto wharf in the port of Valletta, Tara will share with the public a film, an exhibition about the oceans (Place Saint George), and will welcome scientists and teachers from August 28th to 30th.

- Thursday, August 28 at 4 pm, Tara will arrive  at Pinto Wharf No. 5 in the port of Valletta

- Friday, August 29, 9 to 12amthe exhibition Our Ocean Planet will be open to the public on St George Square in Valletta, next to Palazz Maġistrali

The ocean is the cradle of life and covers three quarters of our blue planet. It is vital for the health of our ecosystems, essential for the balance of the climate and for the global economy. To ensure the transition towards a model of sustainable development, our societies must better understand the treasures of marine biodiversity, and manage them more effectively. - Friday, August 29 at 6:30pm, briefings for the press will take place aboard Tara, in the presence of Tara’s captain Martin Hertau, the crew, and Dr. Gaby Gorsky, scientific director of the Tara Mediterranean expedition.

- Friday, August 29 at 6pm, screening of the documentary Planet Ocean  (90 min), directed by Yann Arthus Bertrand and Michael Pitiot, at St James Cavalier in Valletta

- Saturday, August 30 at 8am,  departure of Tara to continue scientific studies of plastic pollution at sea.
